Indian practice (IS 3646 / NBC 2016 Part 8) recommends 300 to 750 lux maintained on the task plane with uniformity of at least 0.6. New installations should target 20–30% above the maintained value to allow for lamp depreciation and dirt.
What mounting height is typical for workshop / assembly?
Around 6 m is typical. Higher mounting needs more lumens per fixture or closer spacing to keep uniformity.
